Overwatch Player Discovers a New World of Warcraft Easter Egg

Overwatch Player Discovers a New World of Warcraft Easter Egg

Overwatch is a game that had a lot of popularity in 2016 and 2017, being one of the games that dominated the competitive scene and that had a solid base of players that kept it in the forefront of the industry for many months.

Currently, its popularity has dropped after the launch of games like Fortnite or Apex Legends, but it still has loyal players who continue to have fun in this game, despite not having received a major update in several months.

In the same way, Overwatch also became famous for the large number of Easter eggs that its maps occults. The game references important titles from Blizzard and the industry in general, so it is normal that a new one is discovered from time to time.

Now, an Overwatch player has discovered an Easter egg that has been hidden since 2016 and is part of another of the references between these two Blizzard franchises.

Remember that WoW made a reference to the turret-maker Torbjorn from Overwatch with the characters King Tor and King Bjorn, so it is already normal to find this type of wink between both titles.

Specifically, during BlizzCon 2016, event attendees had access to an exclusive Bastion skin, with a very particular appearance that made this robot adopt Blizzard’s colors, blue and red.

However, what is really interesting is not hidden by Bastion, but by his bird companion, Ganymede.

This user noticed that Ganymede’s redesign references the popular Pepe bird from World of Warcraft, which has also had cameos in Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone.

This skin shows Ganymede in Pepe’s characteristic brown and white colors. In addition, the pattern of his plumage is practically the same and he also has the blue talons that make him look like the aforementioned WoW bird.

Here we leave you an image of Ganymede and Pepe so you can make the comparison yourself:

I just realized who Ganymede is cosplaying as with the Bastion 2016 Blizzcon skin (Pepe the Warcraft Bird) from Overwatch

It is because of these kinds of winks and references that Blizzard has kept World of Warcraft as the most influential MMORPG in the industry for so many years, along with the important updates that it periodically adds to the game.

The popularity of WoW today is so great that some players choose to buy wow gold at goldpiles online for real money to progress more quickly in this game that was originally released in 2004.

Regarding Overwatch, we already know that Overwatch 2 will not be released in this year 2021 as planned. In fact, an insider recently assured that the development of the game is quite slow and that we will have to wait a long time to see it in our hands.

For its part, World of Warcraft will expand its experience to mobile phones with several free to play titles that Blizzard is already developing. Some of them could even be released this year, so we recommend watching BlizzCon so you can find out all the information as quickly as possible.

World of Warcraft is now available worldwide on Microsoft Windows PC and Mac OS.
